Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
